I felt a need to write this because I tend to make my rounds of hundreds of blogs and comment on blog posts I find interesting. But I often find that I never check back to see if there was a reply because I am not notified of one. For the blogs that have a “subscribe to comment” feature, I always check it. I can then go back and continue the conversation. There is a free plugin for this on the WordPress website, so it should not be an issue.
Are you lacking traffic?
I try and teach my readers how to maximize their revenue, seo, and traffic. My goal here is to make you rich or at least very well off. I would be remiss if I did not stress that you need to create return-traffic from readers who once visited. There are many ways to create those return visits, and some of them are:
- Subscribe to comments
- Newsletter subscription
- Twitter & other social networks
- RSS Feeds
- Reciprocal commenting on commentators blogs
- Replying to comments made by your readers
The idea is to utilize simple tools to bring people back. If you are slacking in any of these, then you are failing as a blogger. Stop right now and work these things into your routine. Do not advance to something else until these items are something you do on reflex. These things should be something you do just like you breathe air and eat food. Without them you will DIE a horrible blogging death!

Discovered this blog via Smartbloggerz guest post. Impressive design.
Yes, I use subscribe to comments and it’s a very basic plugin that any blog should have. I also use my own commenters information for further analysis and even potential communication in the future (but I never sell them)

Hello Ajith. Thank you and welcome to my blog. I hope you visit often. I wrote this post because I was tired of accidentally running into old articles on other blogs which I noticed had replies to my comment, and I wasn’t notified. I hope that all bloggers adopt this simple plugin.

Hey Brandon. Does that plugin subscribe you to all comments on the post or just if someone replies to your specific comment?

Indeed.
You made me realize that I’m not offering this option on my own site. With a little search and research, it’s now available there.
You also gave me something to write about: Why or why not should we tick that box?
Thanks Brandon. Have a good one.
P.S. I’m going to tick the box now before I hit the Submit button

I love subscribe to comments. I use it for almost every blog I comment on. This way, like you said, I get notified whenever a new comment is placed on that blog.
I can then, later, go back and reply to other people’s comments, allowing me more of a chance to get noticed. The website’s owner also appreciates the help!
Great post, Brandon!
