My Crazy Lotto Experiment
Ok, now people are really going to think I’m nuts, but I really wanted to try something new and strange. That’s why I created a new blog on blogger (yeah I know it’s not self-hosted) and utilize the blog to provide free graphics and graphical templates for my readers.
The idea is to get readers to donate anything ($1, $500, $1,000, etc) and their entire donation will be applied to the next Mega Millions or Powerball game on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
It doesn’t matter how much you donate. It will ALL be applied to the next game
What do you get out of this? Well, you are getting lots of graphics to use to build your business, or your traffic! On top of that, you will get to know a lotto winner should I hit the jackpot.
You would also get to say “I was part of that original experiment and my money probably bought the winning ticket!”. Head on over there and check it out. I will be posting the first of the free graphics late tonight/early tomorrow. Help spread the news!

Man, it’s a good thing you’re not flying the plane! Oh, I have no doubt that we would get there alright, I’m just not exactly sure where we would end up!

LOL. Yeah man, I am nuts a bit I guess… I thought it was unique though. A few other things come to mind like the million dollar homepage, or the guy who bartered a paper clip on craigslist until he had a house.

Hey Brandon –
Way to think outside of the box on this. Taking donations to play the lottery – nice.

I’m not gonna lie, man… I’m one of those people who thinks you’re nuts! I just… I think it would be hard enough to get people to straight up donate money to you in exchange for your graphics. But I would NEVER give my money to someone if I knew they were just going to waste it on the lottery!
Having said that, I realize that we’re all motivated by different things and we’re all interested in different things. More power to you for trying out a new idea instead of just letting it fizzle or rot, and I hope it works out for you!

It means a lot to be called nuts by you. LOL. Acutally I placed in on blogger rather than self hosting because it really is just an experiment. I figured that if I were going to blow money on lotto tickets, I would rather it not come from my residuals or my services. Also, think about it man. If I spend $500 on tickets in one game, my chances of winning go way up. If I do win, I will probably connect with those that donated and make sure they have opportunities that didn’t have previously. I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

says:
Yeah but what are the odds of winning the lottery? They’re pretty astronomically small, right? And even if you increase that by 50 or 100 times by buying $500 worth of tickets (I don’t know how much individual lotto tickets cost, so I don’t know how many tickets $500 will buy you), it’s only just slightly less astronomically small!
Not to mention the fact that getting $500 in donations will be a major accomplishment in and of itself…
Anyway, again, I hope it works out for you! If it does and you win the lottery, you can write a big old blog post about how much of a douche I am

At a dollar a ticket, $500 would bring 500 tickets. By the way… way to go with your positive thinking and the power of “the secret”. No need to wait on that big post

Well now doubt it is an interesting and original idea. I wish you luck with it.
Like someone else said lotto is the “worst form” of gambling. returning something like .40 on the dollar invested. (including those big wins, of course).
Could be interesting to do the next one as a “finance my blackjack career” (where the returns are .89-.975 on the dollar) Even if you are only able to get 1 ticket, I do hope you win. It would be cool to know a big lotto winner.
of course that “dream” is what keeps people betting in the worst odds game out there

It’s a matter of leverage Steve. I wouldn’t go and pay cash for a real estate investment. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t even have a bank finance the majority of it. I would use seller financing as leverage and make very little down payment if anything at all. When I collect rents and pay the mortgage, my ROI is infinite on any surplus. Spending donations specifically for the purpose of gambling with lotto is genius man. If I win, I did it without spending a cent. If I lose, I am not losing any hard earned cash.

That’s really innovative. It sounds like a fun game to play. Are you going to add any profit sharing element to the lotto winnings?

Nope. But here’s the deal… If I were to win the jackpot, I am planning on flying out all of my regulars/bloggers so we can mastermind a few new businesses. Also, I want to launch a few new products and platforms that will make life a bit more easier for bloggers. As for compensation of donating parties, that’s what I will be providing free graphics for. That will bring value to the blog/project rather than just asking people for donations with nothing in return.

Hey Brandon,
Thanks for the Hystrical post!
I would never donate money for you to win the lotto haha. Whatever money i was going to donate to you why wouldn’t I just use it on myself? Then If anybody was going to be winning the lotto it would be me! Ha
Naw, but this is a clever post, great way to think outside the box. You should write a follow up post in the future letting us know how things turned out for you.
Thanks again!
God bless,

Consider this William. It’s about leverage. I am leveraging my large network and internet marketing abilities along with graphic design in order to get multiple donations. Would you bet your $5 in lotto tickets against a $100 ticket purchase? I have plans for my “regulars” if I were to win, and you are one of them. Keep that in mind.
I’ll help you to spread the news. I think I can use this site to add some additional earnings.
