My WordPress Design Services
I wanted to take a moment to draw attention to my services pages. Particularly the PSD Layout Design services. My reason for this is that I love graphic design. It is just really fun to me to create a cool layout that someone will use to make a successful blog or cms with. This is why I dropped the price on it temporarily from $250 to $50 for a PSD Layout.
See to the left my handy-work, and you will see that I like to pay attention to detail. I find that graphic design fills my non-blogging time with happiness.
I am not sure when I am going to increase the price on this, but know that right now $50 is a steal. You can keep an eye on the price by going to my psd layout page.

Hey Brandon,
$50 is an absolute bargain for any graphics work – but I guess if you’re bidding for business you need to heavily undercut the competitors to try and get some clients and eventually build up credibility.
I notice we used the same free template on our blogs, are you working on your own custom theme at the minute? I’m trying to understand how to develop WP themes at the minute.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark. I agree it is a bargain. I am not doing it to build up credibility or undercut anyone though. The price is because I want to attract clients on all price levels, even those that cannot afford expensive design. I own a professional web design and seo company though, and charge industry prices there. I simply LOVE web layout design, and want to do as much of it as possible.
I am using the free template right now, with some customization of course. I am not developing a custom theme for myself at the moment, but may in the future.

I think that is a good approach you are taking, and hope it works out for you.
Anytime I have tried to estimate what I should charge for web work some of the sample costs are phenomenal. But there are so many different clients that will not have large sums of cash to pay out. For instance churches and charities will not be able to afford expensive quality designs. If you manage to cater for them to the same high standard for a fraction of the price, you have an almost untapped pool of potential clients

Quotes skyrocket when clients want me to code a site, or provide marketing services. But I don’t consider graphic design to be “work” which reflects on the price. But don’t get me wrong. If someone needs a gif animation or other graphic design other than web layouts, the price is industry standard which by some people would be considered expensive.

I guess if your passion is designing themes, then rather than doodling them on a page, you use photoshop. And rather they lie around gathering dust, it makes good business sense to commercialise them with little effort on your part.

Funny you mentioned that Mark. I created an ecommerce site and am building up my psd design template inventory.
