Popular Blogging Topics for 2010
When you begin blogging, you may be a bit confused or have writer’s block. It is a common problem, but very easy to fix. Consider what the hot topics are in current events. Below is a list of some of the popular topics for 2010. You can write your own swing on these topics and make them yours. Also keep in mind that it is good practice to occasionally include reference links, and pictures if they fit your topic to make it more interesting for the reader.
Topic # 1) SEX!:
Sex is always a huge topic. If you have an independently hosted blog, you can write about sex on a regular basis and gather a loyal following. Let’s face it, sex sells!
The adult industry is a multi-billion-dollar business, and writing about the adult topic can bring in lots of traffic from search engines, and other adult related websites that use your blog as reference material.
With the adult topic, you can keep it simply informative by writing articles on sex. It doesn’t have to be a perverted blog. I have seen good blog sites that provide quality adult information for adults who with to simply be well informed. An example would be ChristianNymphos.org which discusses sex subjects between consenting married adults.
Topic # 2) Politics:
Politics can be a great traffic topic because people tend to feel very strongly about them. Keep in mind that such a topic can bring in heated discussions amongst the comments. You may have to heavily moderate such a blog.
To discuss politics, you would need to write articles that appear to Democrats, Republicans, and Independents alike. You don’t have to make everyone like you. That would be impossible when writing about politics. There will always be someone out there that disagrees with what you write. But consider them a good readership as well, because they will keep coming back to read what you write. People love to argue politics.
Topic # 3) Making Money:
Everyone wants to make money working for themselves. It’s only natural. Especially in America. Use this topic to bring in readers looking for valuable information on starting, running, and marketing their home based business. It’s a tough blog to get on top of search engines because of the amount of saturation, but if posted regularly, you can achieve some excellent top 10 results and bring in valuable traffic.
Topic # 4) Religion:
Be careful with the religious topic. You will attract believers and non-believers alike. They might start some heated arguments in your comments, and will have to be watched. Try not to take sides and you can succeed at bringing both parties back to the table. Be careful to create a discussion rules policy so that your readers have a basis to work with, and a clear punishment for breaking a rule.
Topic # 5) Technology:
You will not believe how many tech blogs I have come across with hundreds upon hundreds of comments. They tend to post new technology reviews and how-to articles. An example would be a blog that taught it’s readers how to get service with a provider other than AT&T on their iPhone.
Tech blogs are read by people of all ages. These blogs usually do especially well with reviews. A blog about tech reviews can attract freebies from companies looking for the viral press. So they send you a new gadget for free, and you post your review. In the end, you get to keep the latest technology and brag to your friends.
This concludes my short list of popular blogging topics for 2010. But it does not mean that other topics are not popular. It might be good practice to check trends, and the highest search keywords on a regular basis to determine what’s popular. Go with your gut. Also, you can check the highest paying google keywords to see which keywords bring in the most money on cost per click.

Neglected Blog Items That Will Bring You More Traffic if Fixed
about 1 year ago - 12 comments
Today, I spent a lot of time replying to lots of comments left on my blog over the past two weeks. I am still not done responding to everyone, but I’m working on it. When I was done with my current round of replies, I suddenly realized that this could be used as something to…

about 1 year ago - 12 comments
In early 2010, I wrote an article on the popular blogging topics for the year. I wanted to start 2011 off right with a new list of blogging topics that will be very popular this year. To kick this off, let’s start with the ultimate controversy. In 2010, Wikileaks was a major development and a…
Do You Truly Sacrifice for Change?
about 1 year ago - 3 comments
When I was a kid, I would fantasize about being rich. I even knew that it would happen before I became an adult (that didn’t happen). As a matter of fact, it took years beyond turning 18 before I made a significant amount of money on my own. As time went by, I realized the…
I Will Give You $100,000
about 1 year ago - 17 comments
Over the many years that I have been in business, I have made a lot of money. I will admit that it started slowly, with my first year only making a grand total of $500, but after that it was all downhill riding. My income has come from various ventures, with seo services, web design,…
Money Making: By Any Means Necessary
about 1 year ago - 1 comment
I am not endorsing drug sales or anything when I say “by any means necessary”. What I mean is that sometimes it is easier for you to make money doing something other than what you want to do for a living. If you start a business as an interior decorator, but that business is not…
Blogging Gets Easier With Time
about 1 year ago - No comments
After blogging for a couple months on here, I find it easier to do. I use blogs on a regular basis for marketing, but this is the first blog that I have created for myself and maintained for myself. I find that it is easier to come up with topics to post, and to find…
My New Motive as a Blogger
about 1 year ago - 1 comment
For a long time, I have used blogging as a way to make money through advertisements. The funny thing is that I found that traffic is much more easily gained when I am posting based on actual happenings in my life in addition to specialized articles on my industries. My new motive as a blogger…

Hi Brandon,
Good list of ideas. Up until a few months ago, I had not read anything but tech blogs. Well, and a couple of sports blogs.
Since I have been really paying attention, it seems to me that making money is the most common subject.
I have been giving my primary subject a bit of thought lately and am thinking about changing it. It started out being productivity in one’s professional life, and now I am considering refocusing on something that is a little more universal.
Well, that is the plan anyway…
Have a great day!

That’s a good idea to go universal Mark. Small niches are harder to build upon, but can be built over time.

I would say the same topics will be good in 2011… it can be hard at times to think of fresh and interesting topics, but everyone is always interested in making money or politics at least.
