Residual Affiliate Sales Through Linking
As I have been spending time working on affiliate sales, so have I put in time thinking about how to increase affiliate sales over time. What came to mind immediately was the fact that I have been linking to my articles that contain affiliate links via CommentLuv when I comment on other blogs.
What does this mean?
It means that over time, I will have a huge accumulation of inbound links going straight to my affiliate offers for years to come! As an affiliate marketer, you need to focus heavily on building inbound links to your affiliate pages. It does not matter if these links are reciprocal or not, because search engines are not your focus.
Previously I posted about how search engine traffic was big for me. In the last week, I have seen my traffic from referrals turn into 70% of my total traffic at this point. That is because I have been commenting on other blogs; blogs write about me; I do a lot of guest posting.
Overall, even if I were to be dropped from search engine results in a bad algorithm shake-up, I would not be affected when traffic and affiliate sales come to mind!
How you can work this
You need to take from this a simple lesson. Link building through commenting and guest posting are very strong ways of building your traffic and increasing your affiliate revenues over time. I have been watching some of my fellow blogging friends very closely lately. They say that they have been too busy or they are putting off guest posting. What I hear is that they are putting off success by making excuses.
It is important, especially for a beginning or struggling blogger, for you to put methods to work which are proven to be factual. You have to think about blogging logically, and do the math.
Are you bettering your affiliate future?

Great points, Brandon. The majority of my traffic is from referring sites. I do need to work a bit with SEO and not totally ignore it, but I don’t need to freak out when Google talks about making changes.

It’s always a great idea to get that referral traffic to a high level and don’t keep all your eggs in one basket.
