I felt like teasing some of my regulars a bit by giving them a glimpse of my marketing strategy.

by copying and pasting into your browser. Once you get there, click the image to resize it to the actual size.
You will see the list of my top 100 traffic referrers. Yes, I have more than a hundred, but I don’t need to show off here. I thought this might give you an idea of which websites/referrers work. I can see you now going to every url on there looking for new traffic… 🙂
Before you ask, no I will not share the number of visits I received per referrer. Just know that they add up. I might let that cat out of the bag in the future, but not today.
When you look at the image, you will see much more than the fact that Scott Barron likes to be on top 😉 You will notice that Google is my biggest single traffic source. This is because my blog has had time to get lots of pages indexed. You will also notice a social news site called Content.com bringing in lots of traffic.
I utilize a lot of social networks, bookmarking sites, etc to bring in traffic. I do comment a lot on blogs which results in clickthroughs and other bloggers posting articles about me and linking to me. This amounts to a huge amount of traffic for my blog.
I have also noticed that other versions of Google bring in traffic such as Google.com.au, as well as Yahoo and other search engines. It is nice to know that Google isn’t the monopoly, but they are a huge source of traffic with the natural search rankings I have. My natural top 10 ranking for “popular blogging topics” helps bring in good numbers.
Importing to Facebook notes is an automated traffic source. I just set up my Facebook account to import my rss feeds into notes which gets published to my wall. People sometimes comment directly on the wall post, or they follow through to my blog to comment or read the post. These numbers increased when I started a Facebook Fan Page.
EntreCard has been a good traffic provider and I don’t mind giving up the free ad space on my blog for that exchange. I simply drop cards on like-minded blogs and other bloggers return the favor and check me out. I get some new loyal readers that way.
Sphinn, the one I wrote a bad review about did keep one of my articles live on their site which does bring in traffic. I am just too ticked at them to submit another though.
And never underestimate the traffic power of Technorati. Remember what I said, claim your blog!
Thank you Sally for giving me the idea to put up a top traffic list. I just didn’t want to do a top 10… 😉
