Why Your Article Gets No Attention
So you’ve spent so much time writing what you thought was a great idea. You published it, but you have yet to get one single comment that isn’t spam. You are sad
But be happy because I am about to tell you where you dropped the ball!
There is more to writing an article than you think. It requires the ability to be captivating with your words. Did you write in proper English sentence structure (aka grammar)? Did you misspell anything? Did you forget to include a nice new shiny picture in your article? Did you ask questions from your readers like I am now?
Reexamine your article and look at it from a readers point of view. Find out what you left out. If you have gone over it with scrutiny eyes, and you see nothing wrong then you must have forgot to do some CommentLuv! What’s commentluv? It is a great plugin for WordPress that posts your latest article link underneath your comments when you comment on other people’s blogs. This alone will help drive some serious traffic to your latest and greatest. I have commented on some blogs recently and was kind of disappointed that they were using WordPress but forgot to install CommentLuv!
It is important for you to understand that blogging is not just about publishing the most articles. It is about making friends online and inviting them to take part in your little blogging experiment. Without them, you would be nothing. So get your behind out there and comment on some blogs. Don’t forget to include the url to your blog when you comment. Most blog owners will follow your link back and return the love that you have shown them by commenting on your posts.
Another reason why you may have dropped the ball is that you forgot to provide some free knowledge with your article. Readers don’t always want to know that the corn didn’t digest properly. They want to know what you know. Something that isn’t quite as personal as the aforementioned. Drop some knowledge and skool some peeps yo!

Your points appear very valid to me. Some posts seem to be more popular than others just because the content is different, but if you make mistakes in spelling, etc. then that could certainly take away future hits.
I really like the commentluv plugin as it does most of the work for you – it captures your feed and offers the last 10 or so of your posts as options to use.
Have a great day Brandon!

Good info Brandon.
Question to you:
I have some old articles that could use improving. But unless I put them back on my homepage, people probably won’t see them.
Well, they’ll “see” them, but rarely do people really have time to dig through a website and read old stuff.
What are your thoughts on fixing articles and reposting on the homepage?

I am actually in the middle of an article on attracting comments to old posts, and one of my tips is to make an old post a “sticky” when you are using WordPress. This will bring the old post front and center so that it can build up comments which is when you can unstick it. You can do something similar with your Joomla site easily, and I do recommend improving the article and placing it on the homepage.
Yah, I have a plugin that will rotate my articles to the home page.
I’ve given it some thought, but will people get sick of seeing the same thing?
I’m sure you’ll address that in your next article.

The idea Scott, is to put the article in front where most likely nobody has seen it before. The entire reason for placing it up front is because it was one of your older articles from before you even had readers. By bringing it up front temporarily, you are showing your collection of readers some articles they might never have found before.

Brandon,
Thank you for the valuable information. However, as someone completely new to blogging and online business, I don’t even know how to “create a home page.”
But I will do some more research and hopefully discover the secret. you have so many superb resources here that I will have to get back as a priority. I planned just to check out this post but have already spent over an hour on your blog. Really great material and you are an inspiration to a “newbie” like me
